Introduction

The course is designed to assist staff involved in supporting and tutoring candidates in professional examinations by focusing on the process of writing examination questions and the examiners expectations of answers from candidates. The aim is therefore to increase the pass rates by focusing on examination technique by ensuring answers address exactly what the examiner would like in an answer.

Specifically, participants on the course will be able to:

Explain how verbs are used to explain to students the form and content of an examination answer
Produce examination questions to meet different learning objectives and syllabus requirements
Produce examination answers from different question requirements and scenario content
Advise students on how to produce high quality examination answers
Evaluate examination answers identifying good and bad examination technique
